Landscape with Ivishak River and Brooks Range in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska, USA
The Ivishak River is a 95 mile (153 km) tributary of the Sagavanirktok River in the North Slope Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. Fed by glaciers at the headwaters, the Ivishak flows northeast, then northwest, through the Philip Smith Mountains and the northern foothills of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It enters the Sagavanirktok River on the coastal plain south of Prudhoe Bay. On December 2, 1980, 80 miles (129 km) of the Ivishak was designated a National Wild and Scenic River

EDITORS COMMENTS
This breathtaking aerial view captures the stunning beauty of the Ivishak River and Brooks Range in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska. The landscape is a mesmerizing blend of untouched wilderness and rugged mountain peaks that stretch as far as the eye can see. The Ivishak River, a tributary of the Sagavanirktok River, winds its way through this pristine region for an impressive 95 miles. Fed by glaciers at its headwaters, it meanders northeast before turning northwest, carving its path through the Philip Smith Mountains and the northern foothills of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. As autumn sets in, nature paints a vibrant tapestry across this vast expanse. The foliage takes on warm hues of reds, oranges, and yellows against a clear blue sky. It's a sight that evokes awe and wonder at Mother Nature's artistry. Designated as a National Wild and Scenic River on December 2nd, 1980, eighty miles of the Ivishak are protected to preserve their natural splendor for generations to come. This photograph serves as both a testament to this remarkable conservation effort and an invitation to immerse oneself in nature's grandeur.
