Born into slavery, Murad rose through the Mameluke ranks to become a powerful military leader and the governor of Cairo. When Napoleon's forces arrived in Egypt, Murad led the Mameluke cavalry in a desperate attempt to repel the invaders at the Pyramids. Despite initial successes, the Mamelukes were ultimately defeated, and Murad was among the many casualties. The exact date of Murad Bey's birth is unknown, but he is believed to have been born around 1750. He died shortly after the Battle of the Pyramids, marking the end of an era for the Mameluke Empire in Egypt.
