EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from February 1972, we witness a dramatic duel between actor-singer Jess Conrad and actor Larry Taylor in the picturesque setting of Regents Park. The dispute that led to this intense confrontation revolved around the ownership of car number Plate JC 21, highlighting the lengths people would go to protect their possessions. Jess Conrad, whose face was insured for an impressive £20,000 by Lloyds, challenged Larry Taylor to settle their differences through this age-old tradition. Clad in a striking white shirt, Jess exuded confidence as he faced off against his opponent who donned a black sweater. As the duel commenced near the open-air theatre in Regents Park, tension filled the air. However, just moments into their clash of swords and wills, fate intervened in an unexpected form – a Parks Police Cyclist arrived on scene and promptly put an end to their dangerous game. It turns out dueling was not allowed within these serene park grounds. Caught amidst this thrilling spectacle were two notable seconds - Andrew Ray supporting Jess Conrad and Rocky Taylor standing firmly beside Larry Taylor. Adding further intrigue to this already fascinating event was model Susan Louise 19 serving as judge. Although unresolved due to police intervention, this photograph immortalizes a moment when egos clashed and tempers flared among these talented individuals from the entertainment industry during the vibrant 1970s era.
