Hundreds of Methodists from Coventry came together in the city for a musical celebration
Hundreds of Methodists from Coventry came together in the city for a musical celebration of the 250th anniversary of their church. They packed the Methodist Central Hall to listen to the Coventry Philharmonic Choir and the Dayspring steel band to commemorate the day in 1738 when John Wesley, founder of the church underwent a transforming spiritual experience. The Rev. Donald Parsons, Superintendent of the Coventry Mission Circuit, which has a congregation of 1, 500 in 15 churches, said: " Its a lively church, although numbers certainly are not what they used to be. Among the guests were the Provost of Coventry Cathedral, the Very Rev John Petty and the Bishop of Coventry, the Rt. Rev. Simon Barrington Ward.
