Winston Graham was born in Manchester on June 30, 1910. He has been writing novels since the age of 17. Ross Poldark was first published in 1945, followed by Demelza in 1946, Jeremy Poldark in 1950, and Warleggan in 1953. He now lives in Sussex in Abbotswood House.
Before moving to Sussex, Winston Graham spent thirty years at Perranporth in Cornwall. There, at Flat Rocks, he wrote the first four Poldark books, which the Illustrated London News pronounced " not only rattling good yarns but full of incredibly detailed portraits of the early days of tin and copper mining."

Born on June 30,1910, in Manchester, he embarked on his writing journey at the tender age of 17. Graham's literary success soared with the publication of his iconic Poldark series. The first book in the series, Ross Poldark, was released in 1945 followed by Demelza (1946), Jeremy Poldark (1950), and Warleggan (1953). The Illustrated London News hailed Graham's work as "not only rattling good yarns but full of incredibly detailed portraits" depicting historical mining practices.
