Prehistoric hominin females, artwork
Prehistoric hominin females, artwork. From left to right: Flores Man (Homo floresiensis), Cro-Magnon (European Early Modern Humans or EEMH, Homo sapiens sapiens), and Neanderthal (Homo neanderthalensis). Flores Man fossils from between 95, 000 and 13, 000 years ago were found in 2003 in Indonesia. This hominin was very small, just over a metre tall. Neanderthals inhabited Europe and western Asia between 230, 000 and 29, 000 years ago. Both Flores Man and Neanderthals co-existed with Cro-Magnons, who emerged in Europe from around 35, 000 years ago. Cro-Magnons became modern humans, but the other two went extinct

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the diverse range of prehistoric hominin females, each representing a distinct species that once roamed the Earth. From left to right, we are introduced to three remarkable individuals: Flores Man (Homo floresiensis), Cro-Magnon (European Early Modern Humans or EEMH, Homo sapiens sapiens), and Neanderthal (Homo neanderthalensis). The first figure is Flores Man, discovered in Indonesia in 2003. Despite standing just over a meter tall, this diminutive hominin possessed incredible resilience and adaptability. Neanderthals, on the other hand, inhabited Europe and western Asia for an extensive period between 230,000 and 29,000 years ago. Their robust physique and distinctive facial features set them apart from their counterparts. Finally, we encounter Cro-Magnon humans who emerged around 35,000 years ago in Europe. These individuals eventually evolved into modern humans as we know today but sadly witnessed the extinction of both Flores Man and Neanderthals. This artwork not only offers us a glimpse into our ancient past but also highlights the fascinating diversity that existed among our early ancestors. It serves as a reminder of how far humanity has come through millennia of evolution while honoring those who came before us. The monochrome illustration against a white background adds an air of mystery to these long-lost civilizations while emphasizing their significance in shaping human history.
