4th August 1543. The Windsor Martyrs were 16th century English Protestants martyred at Windsor in Berkshire. Their names were Robert Testwood, Anthony Pearson and Henry Filmer - arrested by Bishop Gardiners agent, Dr John London, on the evidence of William Simonds, the Catholic former Mayor of Windsor, who had a grudge against them. Protestant martyrs whose story was recorded in Foxes Book of Martyrs. London and Simons riding about the marketplace with papers on their heads declaring their perjury.
