Luther and Katharina von Bora, (1936). German priest and scholar Martin Luther and his wife Katharina von Bora at home. Luther (1483-1546) was a major inspiration behind the Reformation. Katharina (1499-1552) is thought to have been an important participant in the Reformation because of her role in defining Protestant family life and setting the tone for clergy marriages.
