Master Roger Jolly, aged 2 years and 9 months, leads Giddy, the mare

Master Roger Jolly, aged 2 years and 9 months, leads Giddy, the mare, round the grounds and farm of the Lord Nelson Inn at Upware, Cambs. The inn, which is at least 200 years old, carries the large inscription " Five miles from anywhere, no hurry", so right enough the mare Giddy feels within her rights to take her time to amble. Roger is the grandson of the proprietor of the inn, Mr. Charles W. R. Jolly.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this charming photograph, we are transported back to July 1950 at the Lord Nelson Inn in Upware, Cambs. The image captures a heartwarming moment between Master Roger Jolly, a bright-eyed boy of just 2 years and 9 months old, and his trusty companion Giddy, the mare. As they explore the inn's grounds and farm together, their friendship shines through. The Lord Nelson Inn itself is steeped in history, boasting an impressive age of over 200 years. Its iconic inscription proudly declares its location as "Five miles from anywhere, no hurry" setting the tone for a leisurely pace that even Giddy seems to embrace wholeheartedly. Roger holds onto Giddy's reins with confidence beyond his tender age; after all, he is the beloved grandson of Mr. Charles W. R. Jolly - proprietor of this timeless establishment. The innocence and joy radiating from both Roger and Giddy make it clear that their bond extends far beyond mere caretaker and horse. This snapshot encapsulates not only rural scenes but also evokes nostalgia for simpler times when childhood was filled with carefree adventures alongside our animal friends. It serves as a reminder of the enduring power of friendship across species boundaries – an endearing testament to the beauty found within these cherished memories captured by Mirrorpix on Memory Lane Prints.
