RMS Mauretania (Launched 1938)
RMS Mauretania. A successor to RMS Mauretania of 1906. Launched 28th July, 1938 she saw only the briefest period of commercial operation before being requisitioned by the British Government for use as a troop ship during World War II. In 1947 she rejoined commercial service and sailed the transatlantic route during the summer months and the Caribbean during the winter. She was finally withdrawn from service and sold for scrap in 1965. Date: Launched 1938
