The Battle of the Nile, 1798: A Woodcut Engraving by Terry Parker from Mary Evans Prints Online The Battle of the Nile, fought on August 1, 1798, was a pivotal moment in the French Revolutionary Wars, as the British Navy under Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson successfully intercepted and defeated the French and Spanish fleets under Rear Admiral Brueys off the coast of Abukir Bay in Egypt. This stunning woodcut engraving by Terry Parker, available through Mary Evans Prints Online, captures the intensity and chaos of the battle as it unfolded on the Nile.
