In 1890, Koch was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on tuberculosis, and in 1896, he was able to prove that Rinderpest was caused by a virus-like agent, which he named Rinderpest virus. This discovery revolutionized the field of veterinary medicine and led to the development of effective vaccines against the disease.
