John Wodehouse, 1st Earl of Kimberley (1826-1902), also known as Lord Wodehouse from 1846 to 1866, was a prominent British Liberal politician who held office in every Liberal administration from 1852 to 1895. In this striking photograph taken in 1869, Earl Kimberley is depicted in formal attire, exuding an air of confidence and sophistication. Born into the aristocracy, Kimberley entered politics as a Member of Parliament for Ipswich in 1852. He quickly rose through the ranks, serving in various cabinet positions, including Postmaster General, President of the Board of Trade, and Secretary of State for the Colonies.
