Commissioned during the reign of Emperor Charles V, who was both King of Spain and Emperor of Germany, the artwork is currently housed in the German Historical Museum in Berlin, Germany. The allegorical composition depicts Emperor Charles V seated majestically on his throne, holding a scepter in one hand and an orb in the other, symbolizing his imperial power.
