Jules Pierre Cesar Janssen, French astronomer, 1893. Janssen (1824-1907) at the eyepiece of his reflecting telescope at Meudon Observatory, France. An accident at a young age left him unable to walk or attend school. He worked as a bank clerk and eventually entered the Sorbonne, graduating in 1852.
