These exquisite firearms measure 41.5 cm in length and are currently held in a private collection. The pistols feature blued and gilt swamped octagonal barrels, adorned with gold-inlaid bands and intricately engraved panels depicting foliage and Empire-style ornamentation. The breeches are also engraved and gilt, bearing three makers marks each. The locks exhibit fine craftsmanship with roller mechanisms, gold-lined rainproof priming-pans, and stunning gold-encrusted designs incorporating foliage, a dragon, and a wolf. Each pistol is mounted on an engraved iron trigger-plate with set triggers. The silver mounts are cast and chased with Classical ornament against a stippled gilt ground. Notably, the trigger-guards boast trophy of arms finials along with winged deities crowned with laurel wreaths. The side-plates depict the mythical fight between Centaurs and Lapiths at Peirithous' wedding feast while the pommels bear Hercules masks. Original silver-mounted ramrods accompany these exceptional firearms. Presented in their original close-fitted veneered case lined in green velvet, this remarkable set includes various accessories such as a silver-gilt-mounted powder-flask with sprung nozzle and case-hardened bullet-mould.
